I honestly love Three Houses in particular because it really helps you get attached to the characters because you have a time in the game in which you can chat with them and see the characters talk with each other too. I seriously thought that doing battles in FE3H would be boring, but they're actually quite fun and get you to think more about your actions instead of just spamming the "attack" button (which tbh is something that I did quite often in RF4). The plot is absolutely fantastic and well written and the there is a lot of puzzles and interesting things that happen in the battles which makes the combat fun despite it not being the style that Rune Factory has. I have been a long time fan of Rune Factory for a long time and didnt think that I would like FE3H because I played FE Awakenings (and didnt like it) but I ended up loving Three Houses. I would seriously recommend FE Three Houses. It is a game that wants you to be paying attention like RF, but is sort of an intermediate between RF and RS, at least imo. It's still grindy, don't get me wrong, but it's basically a more "casual" OSRS.īut if you're looking for something else, perhaps then Fantasy Life is a good pick for you. Additionally, the leveling process is much, much faster in RS3 which means you can get to the more interesting parts of the game such as bossing, quests, ect with less grinding. RS3 has a much more active combat system and a lot of the skills in that game have different ways of training where you can choose if you want to be paying attention or grinding in the background. Both games are good and share a lot of the same positives, but they are different too in significant ways. You might want to try RS3 instead of OSRS, if you enjoy the idea of OSRS but not the execution. And it's just a real time sink of a game.
There are usually some ways to train that do reward you for paying attention ("active grinding" vs "passive grinding"), but not all skills have those methods available, and some are only available starting at certain levels. Yeah, it is definitely a game that suits itself better to "playing in the background" than RF, which requires active play at all times. Anyone know some lesser known, but equally good titles that fit the mold?
There is always a wealth of things to do and that created the freedom to make the game what you wanted it to be, rather that was a social simulator or a farming sim or an RPG.Īre there other similar games like this, that give the feeling of living in a world with many different, well polished systems to immerse yourself in? I have heard of the obvious ones like Harvest Moon/ Story of Seasons, Stardew Valley, and My Time at Portia. Of the things I enjoyed the most, it was that freedom to do whatever you wanted with the vast amount of mechanics available to me.Īmong my favorites were the skill system (there is a skill for everything and I loved that), leveling up my character and skills by grinding monsters, crafting, the relationship system, and capturing and using pets. I have only played Rune Factory 4, but I enjoyed it immensely. The Rune Factory games are so unique in that they do so much in many ways they are a combination of quite a few different games in one.
